RESPONSIBILITIES OF CHRISTIAN’S COUPLES
(Galatians 6:9-10; Acts 9:6-43)
1. INLAWS RELATIONSHIP/SOCIAL ACTIVITIES
i.
Each couple must understand that it is compulsory for them to have good
relationship with each other’s parents. It is the couple’s responsibility to
visit their parents as occasion permits.
ii.
The couple should have the welfare of both parents in mind and whenever
any need to assist them arises; they should attend to it immediately.
iii.
The couple is advised to attend social activities that are not sinful.
Examples are marriage ceremony, naming
ceremony, house warming, graduation ceremony, burial ceremony, thanksgiving for
retirement in service or others aspects of thanksgiving etc.
2. CIVIC RESPONSIBILITY
i.
It is the responsibility of every couple to pray for all men and all
government officials (I Timothy 2:1-2).
ii.
The couple must understand that they must perform their civic right by
voting during elections.
iii.
Every couple must pay all their dues
e.g. tax, bills (e.g. BEDC, Water etc). They must renew their vehicle
particulars (Driving Licence) etc.
3. RESPONSIBILITY THAT GIVES WAY FOR THE
GOSPEL
i.
Every family must endeavour to pay the price of whatever it can cost
them to win the souls of their extended family and their in-laws.
ii.
Rendering assistance to those that are less priviledged financially.
Assisting in payment of their children school fees, visiting those that are
sick and to settle their hospital bill et cetera.
iii.
If we are priviledged to know solutions to their challenges, we can
help them out.
4. COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT
There are different development activities
in each community. We must make sure we respond positively to whichever among
the development that concerns us.
Some of the likely
development may include:
i.
Construction of roads
ii.
Security guards
iii.
Schools
iv.
Electricity
v.
Market
vi.
Clinic
vii.
Polite post
viii.
Bus stop
Prayer Points
i.
Father in heaven; give all
in-laws the grace to love their sons and daughters in-laws so as to have unity
at all times.
ii.
Lord, let our sisters know
how to have cordial relationship with their mother’s in-laws and family
members.
iii.
Lord, help every family to
win souls as we communicate the gospel to extended families directly or indirectly.
iv.
May the Lord assist us so
that our family will not drag the name of the Lord Jesus into the mud.
v.
Mold our lives and families
so that none of us will lose heaven.
