REDEMPTION THROUGH THE BLOOD
Colossians 1:13-14, 1 Pet 1:18-21, Eph 1:7, Heb 9:22
‘…. In whom we have redemption through his blood,
even the forgiveness of sins. (Col
1:14)’
‘But of him are ye in Christ Jesus, who of God is
made unto us wisdom, and righteousness, and sanctification, and redemption
(1 Cor 1:30)’
INTRODUCTION
Redemption refers to being bought out of that from which
we could not deliver ourselves. Man cannot deliver himself for sin and it was
by the blood we are redeemed from sin. Jesus paid the ransom that nothing else
is sufficient to pay. We have been purchased!
COST OF REDEMPTION
It is only the blood of Jesus Christ that has the power
to liberate us from the prison of sin (Col
1:14). Only Jesus blood can redeem us. Forgiveness of sin is not cheap, it cost
God the life of His Son. When Jesus scarified His life, it hurt Him deeply, but
He was willing to do it in order to save us from eternal separation from God.
As He was hung on the cross, Jesus felt the excruciating
weight of the sins of every man. We need to remember that He never committed a
sin, and all our sin came to rest on Him at one time. This make the Father
withdrew from His son the first time ever. Our lord Jesus experienced the
desolation of separation from God on the cross, which cost Him a huge.
THE VEIL IS REMOVED.
The curtain or veil that separated us from God is the
reality of sin in our lives. The veil of sinful flesh can be removed from us
only when sin is taken away from us. We cannot remove sin from our flesh by
doing good deeds or by any of our own effort, but there is hope; the Lamb of
God has removed the veil (Rom 8:3-4). Jesus came to earth in the likeness of
sinful flesh, He removed the veil by offering up His body as our substitute,
this canceling the power of sinful flesh within us. Heb 10:20, 22
THE BLOOD OF JESUS PAID THE PRICE – HEB 9:23-24
·
His death on the
cross was superior to the blood of thousands upon thousands of sacrificial
animal. Micah 6:7
·
His high priestly
work in mediating between God and man is superior to all the priests of all the
ages combined. Heb 9:11-15, 1 Jh 2:2

The blood of Jesus
Christ pays our debt in full. Rom 3:24-26
THE RIGHT TO US THAT JESUS HAS OBTAINED
..And have redeemed us to God by your blood. Rev 5:9
The Lord Jesus has a right to every man soul as a
creator; it is through Him God bestowed life upon men, so that they might be
His possession and inheritance. At the fall of man, when man yielded to the
temptation of Satan, man fell from God and became entirely subject to the
authority of the temper; he became his slave. For man there is no possibility
of redemption except by the payment of the price (ransom) that the law must
righteously demand a ransom for the redemption of prisoners. The son of God has
ransom us from the power of satan. Jesus Christ has purchased with His own
blood, our freedom from the prison and slavery of satan.
An eternal price has been paid for you, God proclaims you
to be now the possession of His Son.
THE PURPOSE OF REDEMPTION
The purpose of redemption through the blood of Christ is
to bring many sons to glory i.e. adoption of sons. (Heb2:10)
Christ has redeemed us from the curse of the law, having
become a curse for us (for it is written “cursed is everyone who hangs on a
tree”) Gal 3:13
To redeem those who are under the law, that we might
receive the adoption of sons. Gal 4:5
Christ became a curse in order to deliver us from the
curse of the law in order that we might receive the adoption of sons that the
blessing of Abraham might come on the Gentiles through Jesus Christ; that we
might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith. Christ redeemed us
through His blood so that we can live by faith and not by the law.
IN CONCLUSION
Each of us must deal with this claim, you are worthy o lord! Here I am take
what you have purchased. I yield myself to you as your possession.
